VJ Mathew, a designated Senior Advocate having more than 40 years of active law practice in the Indian High Courts and Supreme Court of India. He is also having active Indian and International practice in arbitration and in maritime law.

Sr.Adv. VJ Mathew was the former  and first Chairman of  Kerala Maritime Board, a statutory body responsible for operation and  management  of 18 ports in the State of Kerala and was also the member of the International Maritime Transport Law Committee – IBA,  responsible for Asia Pacific Region.

Presently he is the Vice President of Indian Maritime Law Association, which is a forum of maritime lawyers, ship owners, vessel charterers, ports and port operators, EXIM trade, shipping trade bodies,  maritime universities  and similar organization connected with  maritime and shipping,  affiliated to Comit’e Maritime International - CMI established in Antwerp – Belgium in 1897.

PROFESSIONAL FEES

We are committed in  providing   our services cost effectively without compromising on quality and service. To ensure value for money we select lawyers with the appropriate level of expertise and experience for each assignment. We recognize that it is our client's perception of value for money, not ours, that is important and we strive to ensure that our charges are not only reasonable, but are also in line with our client's budgeting requirements and current market rates.

We are always prepared to be flexible in relation to our methods of charging and in agreeing specific arrangements with individual clients. In particular, if a client wants to have agreed hourly rates and is prepared to offer us a significant volume of work, then we are prepared to agree rates which are significantly less from our standard rates.

For Indian clients, the  professional fees we charge as per invoice has to be remitted to our firms bank account after deducting TDS on the professional fees plus expenses at actuals and court fees in cases if applicable. We work on hourly rates and / or lumpsum fees for foreign clients  and the professional fees and expenses has to be remitted to our firms bank account in  USD in compliance with   the Reserve Bank of India rules and guidelines on foreign remittance.

NOTARY

The firm retains the service of an appointed Notary under the Notary Act, 1952 who is authorized to witness the signing of legal documents such as Note of Protest , deeds, affidavits and trust and attest authentic documents in English, Malayalam,  Arabic or any foreign language after due translation to English.
